Bizier turns down mandatory IBF title shot against Alexander

The 20-0 Canadian, who is pencilled in to fight at the Bell Centre on May 25, was called in by the IBF to negotiate with Alexander for the American’s next defence of the title after number one challenger Brook pulled out through injury.

A deadline of May 16 was set until scheduled purse bids by the IBF, although Bizier, 28, has taken just one day to refuse the opportunity and looks set to plough ahead with his own bout a week after Alexander was due to fight in Atlantic City.

Next in line is another Briton in Lee Purdy and it now remains to be seen whether the IBF will allow Alexander a voluntary defence at the Boardwalk Hall or call in the Essex man for what would be a surprise world title shot next month.
