New York-based Irishman Matthew Macklin is apparently in talks for another world title shot after previously putting up a good showing in defeat against Sergio Martinez in March last year.

The former European champion is now linked to a WBA and IBO title challenge against the undefeated Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin, with the fight touted to be taking place in New York on June 29 if all parties agree.

Golovkin, 30, is widely seen as the number two middleweight in the world, behind Martinez, and has devastating punching power as stiputated by his 23 stoppages in the 26 contests on his awesome record.

The two-belt champion recently pummelled Nobuhiro Ishida into submission in just three rounds in Monte Carlo as part of Golden Gloves’ Super 4 event and will take part in his seventh straight world title bout on the night.
