The South African recently scored an impressive points victory over three-time world title challenger Hatton in Johannesburg in what was a grueling contest and now feels the time is right to branch out with his talent in search of more big tests.

“My fight against Hatton was a good win for me, and I still believe I would have stopped him later rounds if it wasn’t for my cut. It just changed my gameplan a lot,” Van Heerden told World Boxing News.

“Now I feel ready to step it up in US or UK, and it’s time for me to let the international world know about me.

“The plan is to have my next few fights take place in the US or the UK, and we are hoping for the promoters to step up and give me a chance.”

The recent announcement that former pound-for-pound star Shane Mosley is to fight on at 41 against Pablo Cesar Cano on May 18 has immediately caught the 25-year-old’s attention for a possible future clash.

“A fight with Mosley would be a dream for me. I would love to share a ring with him before he hangs up his gloves for good.”

Van Heerden has also targeted WBA welterweight king Paul Malignaggi in the past, with ‘The Heat’ believing that the ‘Magic Man’ has bitten off more than he can chew in agreeing on a fight with Adrien Broner this June.

“Broner is a good fighter. He has proven that already and I think he beats Malignaggi when they fight,” added Van Heerden.
