Phil Lo Greco v Shawn Porter in the works for June

Lo Greco, 28, who is unbeaten in 25 contests, is keen to get the fight with Porter made after recently declaring to WBN that he has a TV date in June that needs a name opponent for his continued rise up the rankings.

IBO champion Chris Van Heerden was touted as a possible opponent for Lo Greco’s summer return, although the Canadian has now admitted the idea of facing Porter is higher on his wishlist.

“The Porter fight interests me more as nobody really knows Van Heerden,” Lo Greco told World Boxing News.

“My manager Christian Cherchi and Eric Gomez have been talking and the Porter fight is in the works and hopefully will happen.”

25 year-old Porter is also unbeaten, although lost his perfect record to Amir Khan’s next opponent Julio Diaz as the two fought out a draw in California last December.

A clash between the two would certainly have wide appeal Stateside though and if confirmed, could set the winner up for a possible world title eliminator later in the year.
