TV future uncertain for DeGale, Fury and Eubank Jr.

Frank Maloney’s latest statement regarding the rumours that Channel 5 are set to pull out of boxing could mean that high-profile fighters James DeGale, Tyson Fury and Chris Eubank Jr. are facing a TV blackout.

The long-time promoter made the fascinating admission to iFilm London’s James Helder last night at York Hall as Maloney spoke about ‘Big’ John McDermott’s ten-round revenge win over Matt Skelton.

If true, that would mean that Hennessy Promotions are on the lookout for a new network for British television and may be the reason for the recent postponement of DeGale’s fight with Alexander Brand.

More is expected to come to light soon, but with Channel 5 announcing a shake-up of all departments, including sport in the past week, boxing on the terrestrial station is now facing an uncertain future.
