Former IBF welterweight champion Jan Zaveck is weighing up his options after suffering his third defeat in 36 bouts against up and comer Keith Thurman last weekend in New York.
The 37 year-old, who kept a tight reign on the world crown between 2009 and 2011 before losing to Andre Berto, is considering his future following the loss, but stated to WBN that he can take some heart from his performance against a tough young fighter.
“I can not be happy, because I worked very hard for success,” said Zaveck. “But there is no reason to be eternally sad. My future career is not in doubt, but I will have to sit down and think hard about what’s next.”
Zaveck will no doubt have offers in Europe and beyond to continue his fighting stint, with a decision set to made in the coming weeks.
