More history beckons for the evergreen ‘Executioner’

Phil Jay 08/03/2013

Bernard Hopkins continues his astonishing career on BoxNation this weekend as the Philadelphian battles undefeated Tavoris Cloud for the IBF light-heavyweight crown in Brooklyn, New York.

Victory for the 48 year-old would secure an eighth world title of a stellar stint in the paid ranks and would cement further a legacy laden with records and feats beyond the capabilities of the average human being.

Hopkins claimed his first world recognised belt in 1994 at the middleweight limit, and after dominating the division for more than a decade, moved up to defy the odds with his continued boxing longevity.

Fans are now waiting in anticipation to see if the veteran can score another remarkable win against a young and hungry fighter – as Tavoris Cloud puts his IBF championship up for grabs for Hopkins to complete a world title full circle 19 years on.

Cloud, 31, is 24 fights without loss since his pro debut almost nine years ago and will be aiming to avoid being just another statistic on an astounding list of achievement for the living legend that is Bernard ‘The Executioner’ Hopkins.

On the undercard, Keith Thurman tackles ex-world title holder Jan Zaveck for the chance to face WBO welterweight champion Timothy Bradley.

Hopkins v Cloud and Thurman v Zaveck are live on BoxNation (UK) this Saturday night from 2am. To subscribe for just £10 a month, click on any BoxNation link or banner on the WBN website.
