Seasoned American Tony Thompson quickly switched his attention to a future meeting with Tyson Fury after dispatching rival David Price with ease in two rounds at the Echo Arena.
‘The Tiger’ spoke to UK network BoxNation in the immediate aftermath of the contest, which saw Thompson, 41, end Price’s unbeaten 15-fight run and increase his chances of another world title shot.
‘David Price will be a great champion one day,” Thompson told BoxNation. “This leaves me going after that sissy Tyson Fury for now and he’s been talking a lot of noise in the press.”
Thompson, who lost twice to Wladimir Klitschko, will certainly be back in the world title mix with Fury and the likes of the winner of Chris Arreola v Bermane Stiverne and Johnathon Banks following his stunning win.
For 29 year-old Price, a rebuilding job starts now….
