WBN Photo: Vazquez agreement for Burns fight on March 16
World Boxing News have been told that there is no danger that the upcoming lightweight unification clash between WBO champion Ricky Burns and IBF title holder Miguel Vazquez will not go ahead as planned.
An Elie Seckbach interview surfaced over the weekend in which Vazquez, 26, stated that he was open to offers for his next bout and that ‘nothing concrete’ was in place with Burns for the March 16 event.
WBN has now been correctly informed that Vazquez signed an agreement on January 10, along with presenting photographic evidence of the document on February 19 (see picture), which confirms that the Mexican is fully on board for the Wembley Arena contest.
In the video released on February 17, Vazquez has originally stated that he would be willing for accept a fight with WBC belt holder Adrien Broner or a move to 140lbs, but instead will battle Burns first next month as originally agreed.
