This past Friday night saw the arrival of Brawlers Management Group’s latest heavyweight star Zack Mwekassa as the ‘Black Warrior’ readies himself for his debut at the top division in the coming months.
Congo-born Mwekassa, who based himself in South Africa until recently, is making a fresh start after linking up with Brawler’s CEO Rick Mohamed and is looking forward to the challenge that lies ahead of him.
“I am very happy to be here in America,” said Mwekassa. “I especially thank my manager Rick Mohamed, who did everything he said he would do for me.
“I feel honored to be working with such a well put together organization as Brawlers. Mr. Mohamed is genuine and doesn’t treat me like he is just my manager. He treats me like family and constantly tells me to keep him informed about everything from how I’m feeling if I’m sad after I left my family.
“This makes me feel very comfortable and appreciated and I thank Rick for that.”
Brawlers’ team members Paulino Ibarra and Shawn Cooper met Mwekassa as he landed in Denver International Airport at the start of the weekend, although trainer Giovanti Mohamed is set to meet up with his new pupil at a later date.
Rick Mohamed is certain that he has snapped up a hot prospect in the big-punching Mwekassa, who has twelve stoppages from his thirteen wins in a sixteen-fight career.
“We are very happy to have a quality fighter like Zack and vow to make him a world champion in the future,” promised Mohamed.
“I’d like to personally say welcome aboard to Zack and we are delighted to have him at Brawlers. “Brawlers would also like to give special thanks to our last minute supporter for Mwekassa and that is HipHopCloset.com.
“Also, thanks to all my friends and supporters who believed in me when all the haters continued to hate. GOD is truly good all the time.”
A date and venue for Mwekassa’s second fight on US soil will be announced in the near future.
