Following his arrival in the US on Friday, Zack Mwekassa has participated in his first training session with his new Brawlers team as the heavyweight prospect gears up for his debut under the new management banner headed by Rick Mohamed.
The 29 year-old, who last fought Stateside in 2009 losing out via a controversial split decision to Paul Jeanette, is already turning heads in the gym and team member Paulino Ibarra is impressed by what he has initially witnessed from th big-punching Mwekassa.
“It was a pleasure working with Zack today and I see a great deal of potential in him,” said Ibarra. “His work ethics are incredible and his attention to detail is there for all to see.
“Zack is easily able to make corrections as we train as i point different tactics to him and he is about to make a lot of noise in the cruiserweight or heavyweight division. Zack is very heavy handed and I could feel the strength as I worked the Mitts with him. His power is crazy and his speed is awesome as well.”
Trainer Giovanti Mohamed added: “I can tell the way he carries himself in the gym that his level of motivation and determination will carry him straight to the top.
“We look forward to raising his hands in victory after out first fight out!”
A date and venure for Mwekassa’s Brawlers debut is expected to be announced soon, along with first outings for recent new signings Ty Brunson and former world champion Montell Griffin.
