Pound for pound king Floyd Mayweather has left HBO after many years associated with the broadcaster to sign a multi-fight deal with rivals Showtime, it has been announced.

As the boxing public eagerly-awaited an announcement on the 35 year-old’s upcoming ‘Cinco de Mayweather’ Las Vegas promotion, Mayweather was beavering away with his right hand man Leonard Ellerbe to get his new TV deal in order.

Mayweather is now set to make a ‘record breaking’ amount in the coming years as pay-per-view sales and payments from Showtime are set to keep the biggest star in boxing as the highest paid athlete on the planet.

It has also been confirmed today that WBC mandatory challenger and multi-weight champion Robert ‘The Ghost’ Guerrero will be Mayweather’s opponent on May 4 at the MGM Grand – as widely expected.
