Hard-hitting Aussie Lucas Browne has threatened to ‘smash’ New Zealand rival Sonny Bill Williams after accusing the rugby star and undefeated boxer of turning publicity surrounding his fight career into ‘a circus’.
The 33 year-old, who has bludgeoned thirteen of his fourteen opponents into submission, is hoping to claim the Australian heavyweight title before stepping up in class, but has told WBN he is willing to take a detour on his plans to put Williams in his place.
“I want to fight Sonny for sure, mainly because he’s making a mockery of the sport and it would be great publicity for me,” Browne told World Boxing News.
“The Botha fight was as expected, a circus and the drugs thing (on Botha’s part) is just a continuation of that.
“If he’s got some balls, I’m always ready to fight him and I know I’ll smash him!”
Williams, 27, moved to 6-0 with his controversial win over Botha last Friday, but has been roundly criticised for his performance since and may well be advised to avoid the likes of Browne, who would certainly pose a danger to his current perfect record.
