Devon Alexander says Floyd Mayweather offer is ‘too new’ to comment
Two-weight world champion Devon Alexander has told WBN that a potential fight against pound for pound number one Floyd Mayweather is far from being sealed for May 4 in Las Vegas.
When contacted on the matter earlier, the current IBF welterweight title holder stated that there was currently ‘no information’ regarding a clash with the WBC belt holder and it is still a waiting game at the moment.
“I cannot confirm anything on a fight with Floyd Mayweather as it is all new to me,” Alexander admitted to World Boxing News.
The 26 year-old has a mandatory challenger in Kell Brook contracted for his next fight, with the Sheffield-based contender stated last night that he is none-the-wiser on whether his title bout with Alexander will go ahead.
Alexander was also reluctant to talk about whether a rescheduled bout with Brook will happen in the near future as he celebrated his 26th birthday under a cloud of mystery as to where his career goes to next.
