Schaefer: March no option for Alexander v Brook, or Froch v Kessler II undercard

Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer has confirmed to WBN that March would be too early to rearrange the IBF mandatory bout and that there is ‘no way’ that the fight could head over to a co-feature slot on the Carl Froch v Mikkel Kessler II bill on May 25 in London.

That would possibly mean that Schaefer is looking towards a new date for the contest in April or May sometime, with a Floyd Mayweather fight for Alexander seemingly nothing but a throwaway comment made by the pound for pound king without real substance.

The IBF and WBC’s condemnation of the touted May 4 fight and Schaefer’s intention to find an alternative route for Alexander v Brook, means Mayweather may now turn his attention back to Robert Guerrero or Saul Alvarez for his ring return.
