April 27 ruled out for Alexander v Brook title bout

Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer has confirmed to WBN that any rescheduling of Devon Alexander’s mandatory defence against Kell Brook is unlikely to happen in Brooklyn, New York on April 27.

Reports had surfaced that the venue was a possibility for the IBF welterweight title bout, although Schaefer stated that the Danny Garcia v Zab Judah unification headliner was sufficient to top the event.

“April 27th does not seem to be a possibility for Alexander v Brook as it would become too expensive a night with the fights already scheduled,” Schaefer told World Boxing News.

Alexander, 25, had been linked to a fight against Floyd Mayweather on May 4th in Las Vegas, which now seems highty unlikely to happen after the WBC and IBF expressed their opposition to the fight taking place.
