Malignaggi dismissive of Mosley fight on Showtime broadcast
WBA welterweight champion Paul Malignaggi has gone cold on a potential clash with ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley after commenting on the touted fight as he worked as an analyst for Showtime at the Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas.
With Mosley sitting at ringside as Malignaggi called the Jermell Charlo v Harry Joe Yorgey bout, the ‘Magic Man’ was asked whether there was a chance the fight could happen by co-presenter Al Bernstein and gave out an unenthusiastic ‘we’ll see, we’ll see’ to the question.
The 32 year-old was then jokingly asked; ‘Your fan’s loved that fight on Twitter’ and Malignaggi gave out a sarcastic; ‘Yeah, they did’ to, in theory put an end to speculation that the two could meet on April 27.
Malignaggi has recently stepped back from his role as ‘Twitter King’ where he relentlessly responded to fans on the social networking site after what he called ‘disrespectful comments’ over a proposed fight with Mosley.
Three-weight world title holder Mosley told WBN yesterday that he plans to speak to Malignaggi whilst they are both at the same venue for the Matthysse v Dallas Jr. bout and may now face an uphill battle convincing the New Yorker to face him in the spring.
