Stieglitz sets up possible Abraham rematch with third round KO

Robert Stieglitz will hope to get the chance to avenge one of only three career loses in the spring as the 31 year-old headed towards a rematch with WBO super-middleweight champion Arthur Abraham on March 23 in Madgeburg.

The German held the title from 2009, making six defences until one-time middleweight ‘King’ Abraham dethroned him at the O2 World Arena in Berlin in a competitive twelve round contest.

In order to put himself in the frame for the the contest, Stieglitz was required to get back in the win column and did so with minimal fuss tonight when dispatching young Pole Michal Nieroda in three rounds at the Bon Pastor in Barcelona, Spain.

If negotiations are completed, Steiglitz will have just under two months to prepare for his revenge mission against Abraham, 32, who has already made one successful defence of the title against Mehdi Bouadla in December.
