Maidana ready for April 20 Khan rematch

The former WBA light-welterweight champion fought out a Fight of the Year with Khan in 2010, losing on a close unanimous decision and now hopes to land an opportunity to avenge the loss to the Bolton fighter.

“Amir Khan is a nice guy for sure, but he owes me a rematch,” said Maidana. “He has a date April 20 and we say its unfinished business. Let’s finish it.”

It’s no secret that Khan, 26, is intent on staging his April return to the ring on home soil, before launching his campaign overturn his own loss at the hands of current unified title holder Danny Garcia.

Another match-up with ‘Chino’ would certainly get the British fans buzzing on the back of their first enthralling encounter, although Maidana may be required to drop back down to the 140 limit for any clash following a year fighting at 147.

It’s not likely that Khan would want to yo-yo his weight before an attempt to gain revenge on the dangerous Garcia and that may ultimately be the downfall of any potential rematch between the two entertaining fighters.
