Mormeck aiming to reclaim former glory on February 9

Former world cruiserweight champion Jean-Marc Mormeck will get the chance to regain the WBC title he last held in 2007 when the 40 year-old challenges Krzysztof Wlodarczyk on February 9.

The Frenchman, who has campaigned at heavyweight since losing his title on home soil against David Haye, last fought in March in a poor showing against Wladimir Klitschko and is now back at the 200lb limit.

Mormeck’s four-round effort against Klitschko may mean he has nowhere to go with a defeat to the formidable Pole and with the fight rumoured to be taking place in Equatorial Guinea, the veteran may feel he can cause an upset next month.

Wlodarczyk, 31, has embarked on a winning streak since losing for the second time in his career against Steve Cunningham in 2007 and has now racked up 33 KO’s in 47 wins as he makes his fifth title defence.
