Anderson Clayton makes first title defence in Sao Paolo next week

34-year-old Anderson "Pantera" Clayton realized a lifelong dream when he upset local favorite and reigning champion Sebastien Madani to win the World Boxing Federation World Super Welterweight title this past April in Rumilly, France.

The Brazilian veteran (42-8, 37 KOs) scored a second round technical knockout over Madani, and it was expected that the pair would soon clash again. However, a rematch has yet to be finalized and in the meantime Clayton will now make the first defense of his crown against Argentinean Dario Fabian Pucheta, 17-1 (8), on October 12 in Sao Paolo.

"I was so proud and happy to win the WBF World title in France", said Clayton, and continued: "And I am equally proud to now be able to fight in my hometown as world champion and defend my title in front of fans, family and friends. It will be a great night!"

Pucheta, a 26-year-old from Buenos Aires, is coming off three victories since suffering his only career blemish in 2012. In his latest outing he knocked out then undefeated Spaniard Jesus Altamirano Sanchez (11-0) in the first round, and he travels across the border with intends to do the same to Clayton:

"There has always been rivalry between Brazil and Argentina. In soccer, as well as in boxing. We are proud warriors, and both of us want to win by all means. So this will definitely be a great fight, but I plan to end it by spectacular knockout and take it out of the judge's hands."

A professional for twelve years, Anderson Clayton has faced confident opponents before and beaten them, so he is not likely to be worried about the boasts of Pucheta. After all, he went to France as the underdog and returned to Brazil as champion of the world.

While Pucheta believes he can beat Clayton by knockout, the defending champion knows that with his power he can hurt any man. Fireworks are expected on October 12 in Sao Paolo!

The Anderson Clayton vs. Dario Fabian Pucheta WBF World Super Welterweight title fight will be televised live by TV Bandeirantes.
