Peter Fury confirms Fury v Haye discussions for September/October bout

Trainer Peter Fury has told WBN that talks are continuing between his nephew Tyson and former world heavyweight champion David Haye for a UK clash in September or October of this year.

The highly-rated coach, who looks after the pro careers of Tyson, son Hughie and relative Phill, confirmed the rumours that have been dominating the headlines over the weekend, although stopped short of giving anything away.

"We are in talks with them at present," Fury told World Boxing News when asked to confirm the Fury v Haye rumours.

Peter then added: "Tyson is going to be out in Sept/Oct against the best. Anouncements will follow soon but expect a big fight. Pulev was not financially viable for us and there were no takers for it. Tyson and myself have bigger plans and intend to make a fight the public want to see."

It is thought that Haye, 32, and 24 year-old Fury are mulling over a possible multi-million pound WBC title eliminator, with the winner of the contest potentially facing Vitali Klitschko in early 2014.

Veteran Klitschko, who has been linked to retirement this year, is slated to fight mandatory Bermane Stiverne later in the year after the American defeated Chris Arreola for the mandatory spot. Should the WBC champion decide to hang up his gloves - rather than defend against Stiverne, next in line is ironically his brother Wladimir's trainer Johnathon Banks, who could then step in to battle the Canadian for the vacant belt.

WBN spoke to WBC president Jose Sulaiman yesterday, although he admitted that he is yet to hear from either camp regarding the situation of the title. Once the fight is agreed upon, contact could then be made to make any Haye v Fury bout even more lucrative as both fighters are handily-placed in the rankings.
