Exclusive: Nick Webb gives predictions on Dave Allen British title, Lucas Browne chances

Allen has been mentioned for a possible clash with Lucas Browne and the seems to be gaining interest.

In an exclusive interview, WBN asked Webb his thoughts on the fight.

“I think it would be a good fight but I don’t think Lucas wants that until next year. I think unless Dave catches Lucas with a shot like he did with me, I can’t see him winning it,” Webb told World Boxing News.

The ‘Doncaster De La Hoya’ as he’s affectionately known, Allen has so far shown a very good chin in the 200lbs plus division.

On his thoughts about a KO finish, Webb added: “Not by stoppage unless Dave catches him, I think it’s a good 50/50 fight.”

Lucas Browne is focusing on getting into shape after suffering a heavy knockout loss to Dillian Whyte earlier this year and he returns next month and the big Aussie’s physique could play a big factor in the fight.

“I think that’s his main focus, I’ve seen him on Instagram trying to lose weight and he’s eating properly – doing all the right things,” said Webb. “I think with him fighting Dillian it just really put on a show against him and I think for any man to go through that needs to go through a big change.”

On the future of Allen, and a possible shot at the British heavyweight title after two unsuccessful attempts for the Commonwealth strap, Webb concluded: “If Dave can get himself in shape, he can definitely win the British title. It’s just about him getting himself into shape.

“He’s had all these fights and he’s not been matched very well, being the underdog. I think if he kept busy and actually threw punches and not just take them on the chin then he could actually win rounds and fights.”
