Deontay Wilder, Tyson Fury to go head-to-head in Belfast

The WBC heavyweight ruler is ready to put his title on the line against one-time unified champion Fury this November in Las Vegas and is ready to get in the ring and go head-to-head with the 29 year-old once Francesco Pianeta has been dispatched.

Rumours of Wilder’s arrival in Northern Ireland had been ongoing since negotiations began between the pair last month, although were ratified by Wilder himself over social media this weekend.

‘The Bronze Bomber’ will now be ringside to witness his forthcoming opponent and could formally announce the fight as the pair go nose-to-nose for a second time.

In January 2016, when Fury ruled the boxing world, ‘The Gypsy King’ entered the squared circle on the back of Wilder completely obliterating Artur Szplika in the ninth round before talk of a clash disintegrated due to outside of the ring problems for the Briton.

Almost three years on, and two of the best top division operators around are eyeing a massive Pay-Per-View battle which is certain to set the boxing world alight in 2018.

Showtime boss Stephen Espinoza recently stated a deal was 95% done and WBN have been informed by Wilder’s co-manager Shelly Finkel that both sides are on board in making the blockbuster a reality.

“It is very, very close. There isn’t anything signed yet between Tyson and Deontay or their respective promoters, but it’s very, very close,” Espinoza told The Boxing Beat on ESPN+.

“Whether it’s 95 percent or 99 percent, it is very, very close. I think we’ll have paperwork imminently and the plan is for a Showtime Pay-Per-View (and) pair it with a really interesting fight.

“We don’t know what it is yet, but something that will definitely communicate that the fans are getting their money’s worth.”

One thing is for sure, Saturday night just got a whole load more interesting.
