EXCLUSIVE: Amir Khan tells Kell Brook to STAY PATIENT, fight happens at RIGHT TIME and ONLY AT 147

The 31 year-old is eyeing a victory over Colombian hardman Samuel Vargas before a potential world title challenge against old training partner Manny Pacquiao.

This means a three-fight deal signed with Matchroom Boxing will have come and gone without a lucrative clash with the former world 147 pound title holder coming to fruition.

Asked his thoughts on when the fight could potentially happen as Brook endures problems outside the ring with injury and reported distractions, Khan has told the Sheffield man to be ready when the call comes.

“The Kell Brook fight is there on my radar and that’s one of the reasons why I signed up with Eddie Hearn. I think a fight with him is definitely a possibility,” Khan exclusively told World Boxing News, alluding to the probability of extending his contract with Hearn.

On Brook’s lack of activity since moving up to 154 pounds, Khan added: “What he does outside the ring is nothing to do with me. The way he has a lifestyle of partying and drinking and everything else, he just needs to stay patient and when it’s the right time the fight will happen.

“At this moment, there are other things out there and other routes I’m taking. But let’s just see because it’s a fight I would love to have. In the UK it would be a massive fight.”

With Brook now up at super-welterweight and having been tight at the 147 limit for some time previously, the chances of ‘The Special One’ making it back down are slipping away month by month.

Raising the question of Khan potentially fighting Brook at a catchweight of 150 pounds or above, the 2004 Olympic silver medalist was adamant he wouldn’t be moving up again and had previous assurances any future bout would be taking place at welterweight.

“Moving up to 154 for a Kell Brook fight is something I would never do as I’ve made that mistake of going up a weight before and it’s not come naturally to me,” said the Bolton man, in regards to a brief foray up to middleweight to challenge Canelo Alvarez unsuccessfully in 2016.

“I’m a natural 147 fighter so I want to make the Kell Brook fight at my natural weight – if possible because I don’t want to be going up and down weights. I tried that before and I got hurt.

“If the fight is to happen, it happens at 147. I remember Kell Brook saying that to me at my last fight.

“He said he’ll fight me at 147 so he should stick to his word – if the fight is to happen,” concluded Khan.
