EXCLUSIVE: Johann Duhaupas calls out Dereck Chisora

The former WBC title challenger lost out to Jarrell Miller when travelling to the United States in April and wants a big name to push him back up the rankings once he returns to winning ways.

Speaking to WBN this week, ‘The Reptile’ has focused his crosshairs on Dereck Chisora following the Briton’s impressive knockout of Carlos Takam last month.

‘Del Boy’ lost almost every round until bludgeoning Takam and ending the contest in the eighth, securing Chisora’s biggest win for some five years.

Duhaupas hopes the pair can trade blows next year and sent out an invitation for Chisora to potentially accept a trip across the English Channel.

“Dereck Chisora is a great fighter and he proved that with his KO against Carlos Takam in his last fight,” Duhaupas exclusively told World Boxing News.

“We all know he had a bad performance against Agit Kabayel in Monaco last year, but coming back Carlos was a very good test for him.

“Saying that, all the people know Takam is only a resistant boxer and an opponent without a punch or the real will to win.

“I will be a real test for Chisora and Dereck needs to fight a guy like me (if he wants to move on to a world title shot), because i am strong, hard and I can take a punch.

“After my fight in the USA against Miller, I need to win again and then I am waiting for the next fighter who wants to come and try knock me out.

“I will come back soon but I want to officially invite Dereck Chisora to fight in France in 2019.

“I want to start to fight against English boxers, only because they look too easy for me to win,” he added.

Chisora is likely to return by the end of the year in an attempt to retain or improve his world ranking before eyeing a shot at Anthony Joshua or the winner of Deontay Wilder v Tyson Fury.

Whether Duhaupas is part of that plan only Chisora can answer, although the Londoner won’t be short of offers when it comes to making his next move.
