Deontay Wilder’s trainer and co-manager Jay Deas has reacted to the reports of a potential match-up between the WBC heavyweight champion and ex-world ruler Tyson Fury.
Fury stated talks were at an advanced stage on Monday (later cooled by Frank Warren on Tuesday), leading to fans keeping their fingers crossed for a November or December deal between the pair.
A massive collision on Showtime Pay-Per-View, possibly to be held in Las Vegas (a direct replacement for the failed Anthony Joshua fight), is now on the cards. Deas is excited about the prospect of a high-profile encounter.

“I believe Shelly Finkel can answer exactly where things are from the negotiation side, but from a coaching standpoint, it would be a fantastic fight for the fans,” Deas exclusively told World Boxing News.
“You’d have some Thirteen feet four inches and 500 pounds of knockout power and sheer athleticism in the ring, which would be a great spectacle for everyone.
“Tyson Fury is the lineal champ, the man who beat the man who beat the man. Deontay wants that claim, and only by beating Fury can he get it.
“Remember, Fury beat future first-ballot Hall of Famer Klitschko long before AJ did, and did it when most thought Klitschko near invincible and with a decade-long winning streak.
“Deontay, on the other hand, is by far the most exciting fighter in the world today, coming off his thrilling knockout over the superb Luis Ortiz.
“Should Wilder-Fury happen, Deontay Wilder would have been involved in the two biggest heavyweight fights of 2018.
“Add to it that Wilder and Fury are the two of the most entertaining personalities in the sport. You’ve got fireworks before, during, and after the fight, so I hope it gets made.
“Just the two surnames, Wilder and Fury, says it all,” he added.
Wilder was previously linked to a rematch with Luis Ortiz and a mandatory against Dominic Breazeale. However, landing a clash with Fury would be the best outcome for the American following the collapse of an undisputed unification with Anthony Joshua.
