The moment of truth is approaching for the Argentinean Lucas “La Máquina” Matthysse and the Filipino Manny “Pac-Man” Pacquiao, who will dispute the Welterweight World Title of the World Boxing Association (WBA) in a match agreed on for the 15th of July (14th US) to be held at the majestic Axiata Arena in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This war will undoubtedly have a place among the boxing classics. Pacquiao, a future Hall of Famer and world champion in multiple divisions, will be going against the current ambassador of Argentine boxing better known as “The Machine”, who will seek to leave his name in history while taking down the Filipino star.

Matthysse comes into this fight after knocking out Thailand’s Tewa Kiram on January 27th in California, where he took the 147lb WBA belt.

On the other hand, Pacquiao will meet his first opponent of 2018 after being defeated by decision on July 2nd against the Australian Jeff Horn.

The profiles of both fighters speak for themselves and are worthy of admiration. Matthysse, 35, has 39 career victories, 4 losses and 36 knockouts in his favor. For his part, Pacquiao, 39, has a record of 59 wins, 7 losses, 2 draws and 38 wins via knockout.

The resume of these boxers is really something to behold, as the Filipino has faced the best of the best, and among them are Juan Manuel Marquez, Floyd Mayweather Jr., Erik Morales, Shane Mosley, Timothy Bradley Jr., Miguel Cotto, Oscar De La Hoya , Marcos Antonio Barrera, Ricky Hatton, and many others.

The nickname of “The Machine” has not come without effort, as the Argentinian has had to face great names such as the likes of Zab Judah, Devon Alexander, Lamont Peterson, Danny Garcia, Ruslan Provodnikov, Viktor Postol, and more.

The venue for this fight will be the Axiata Arena, which will host its very first boxing event and has a maximum capacity for 16,000 fans.
