EXCLUSIVE: Dereck Chisora talks William Hill Arms World Cup bouncer role, makes bold prediction

‘Del Boy’ manned the doors at the William Hill pub for England’s match with Tunisia in Russia, with the former world title challenger discussing how the opportunity landed on his lap.

“Yeah they just called the guys at Matchroom and asked for me specifically, I checked the weather first before I agreed but I was like yeah – why not?

“I’m looking forward to it, I’ll hang out there for a bit and then I’ll go home. I’ll stay to watch the match, I have to – it’s a good game,” Dereck Chisora exclusively told World Boxing News, speaking at the launch of the William Hill Arms Pub.

England hasn’t won a World Cup since 1966 but the fans are always ready to back the country as the tournament rolls around.

When asked about England’s chances to win the tournament, Chisora replied: “It’s going to be very difficult this year. The big teams aren’t going to win it. I know that for a fact.

“It’s one of those smaller countries that are going to win it.”

Chisora’s bold predictions could not be far off as the World Cup has seen some great unexpected match-ups this year. When confirming it was an underdog he’d be backing, the Londoner continued to tell WBN:

“Yeah an underdog 100%, they will want to play to win. I was watching one of those teams who was barred from playing football for a while, they were playing great football but they couldn’t put the ball in the net.”

Chisora will have his hands busy day and night as he prepares to meet Carlos Takam at the O2 and manning the doors at the William Hill pub in St Pauls, London.

Talking about the Portugal and Spain match that took place on Joe Joyce’s Friday fight night, Chisora concluded with his excitement: “There have been some good matches; Portugal v Spain was a good game.

“Back in the day Portugal would have gotten laid in but they kept on coming back. It’s gonna be amazing being in the centre of it all.”

The William Hill Arms is located in St Pauls, London and will be showing all England World Cup matches.
