The Watford-born boxer is a 4/7 favourite over his American counterpart, with bookmakers implying he has a 63.6% chance of winning.

That means Wilder comes into the contest as a 2/1 underdog, the only time in the American’s distinguished career that he’s not been favoured by bookmakers.

With reports suggesting the ball is now in AJ’s court in terms of agreeing to a scrap in the UK, punters have been quick to back the British boxer.

In total, Joshua has received 64% of all bets since reports circulated last night, with just 28% of bets placed on the Bronze Bomber. With 8% of bets on the draw.

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek said: “Following Wilder’s Tweet claiming he’s agreed to the bout, UK punters have been quick to back their hometown boy AJ.

“He’s opened as a sizable favourite over his American foe, with the Bronze Bomber being attributed with his first underdog tag of his career.”
