Josh Taylor closing in on WBC title shot

Taylor says he does not feel intimidated, in the eye of the storm or needled by facing a former champion with a lot of experience stressing: “He has a lot more experience than me, but I feel totally confident about winning this fight.

“I think that because he is an opponent of such high quality, I will be giving my best.”

Former WBC super lightweight champion Postol, 34, has a record of 30 victories and only 1 loss against Terence Crawford in 2016.

“He has hundreds and hundreds of amateur fights and has been on top as a professional as well, so he has plenty of experience. But on the other hand, I think it’s the perfect time in my career.

“I’m working hard in the gym, I’m improving all the time. I feel like I’m in great shape and I’m ready. “

It has been a meteoric rise for Taylor, who had his first professional fight in 2015. A victory over Postol would put him directly in line for a chance for the WBC super lightweight world title, currently held by American Jose Ramirez.

“This fight is very big for my career, if I win, then I will be just one step away from a world title fight.”
