Dillian Whyte faces daunting trip to Bulgaria for less than £300k IF HE ACCEPTS Kubrat Pulev fight

Whyte was put forward by the IBF alongside Pulev to fight an eliminator for a shot at Joshua next, although promoter Eddie Hearn LOST the purse bid over the weekend.

Epic Sports laid down almost double that of Hearn’s $830,000 bid with an offer just over $1.5m and Whyte is scheduled to receive 25%, as per the IBF rules,

This would leave Whyte with around £282,000 UK pounds for what Pulev says is almost certain to be a fight held in Sofia on August 18.

“Kubrat Pulev vs Dillian White in Bulgaria! Big news for boxing fans (is that the fight is) at my house,” said Pulev.

“It is 95% certain that this match will take place in Bulgaria. It is most important for me to be able to make people happy, and such an event can really create history.

“There is now a possible date of the match also, which will make an official contender for the world title – a title currently owned by Anthony Joshua. The date will be August 18th.

“To host the elimination battle could be the Arena Armeec in Sofia, which last hosted Pulev in December 2016 and April 2017, or the Vasil Levski National Stadium, where the event could hold more than 30,000 people.

“The match will be where they can go and look to get as many people as possible,” added Pulev.

Whyte now needs to decide if it’s worth the risk if what Pulev assumes will happen does go ahead as planned over the summer.

It’s a tough ask for the Londoner with little reward and could see ‘The Bodysnatcher’ reassess his next move and think twice about taking the Pulev encounter.

The WBC have put Whyte and Luis Ortiz forward for an eliminator, although it may be a longer process with Dominic Breazeale currently the stipulated contender and champion Deontay Wilder looking to face Anthony Joshua in an undisputed unification.

A decision is expected from Whyte by the end of the month.
