Moralde (20-1, 10 KOs) knocked down Muwendo with left hooks in the first and fifth rounds, but Muwendo rallied in the final two rounds to narrow the scorecards.
Fresno native Isidro Ochoa (5-0, 1 KO) overcame a stiff challenge from Ricardo Arias, prevailing via unanimous decision in a bloody battle of attrition. Scores were 60-54, 60-54, and 59-55.
Super featherweight prospect Bryan Lua used a ferocious body attack to stop Francisco Camacho at 2:43 of the third round in the scheduled six-rounder. Lua (5-0, 2 KOs), from Madera, Calif., scored two body shot knockdowns in the third, then ended things with a flurry that dropped Camacho to a knee.
Alexander Besputin maintained his status as one of the welterweight division’s up-and-comers, knocking out veteran Saul Corral with a left hand to the body in the third round of a scheduled 10-rounder.
Besputin (10-0, 8 KOs), who is managed by Egis Klimas, has now won three consecutive bouts via the short route.
Lightweight prospect Piotr Apostol went the four-round distance in his following a 20-month layoff, scoring a unanimous decision over Carlos Castillo.
Apostol, who upped his record to 5-0, won by scores of 40-36, 40-36, and 39-37.
Fresno native Jose Salinas improved to 5-0 with a second-round knockout over veteran Carlos Apodaca. A barrage of punches sent Apodaca to a knee early in the second, forcing referee Rudy Barragan to call a halt to the bout.
