EXCLUSIVE: Two-time world champ Cornelius ‘K9’ Bundrage wants summer Kell Brook clash

Brook is hoping to land a shot at unified super-welterweight title holder Jarrett Hurn at the back end of 2018 after putting an all-UK clash with Amir Khan on hold.

Bundrage could be seen as the ideal opponent for Brook, although the American is confident he could derail the IBF #6’s charge at becoming a two-weight ruler.

“There was talk about me and and Brook fighting in the past but for whatever reason it didn’t happen. Now, he’s lost his title and I lost my title, it seems like it would be a great fight,” Bundrage exclusively told World Boxing News.

“A match-up of two former World Champions would excite the fans. People may talk about my age (45 years old) but it’s deceiving. I started boxing late, so I’m a lot younger (boxing-wise) than a lot of fighters who are in their late 20’s.

“Some of them have been taking punches since the age of three and can be worn out by their late 20’s.”

Bundrage says his successful days in The Contender TV Series mean the British fans are up to speed on his career.

“The fans in England have supported me since The Contender Season 2 days and want me to come back and visit,” he explained.

“I will against Kell Brook and let’s see who is the last man standing

“I’m undefeated in England and I’m rolling with Dimitri Salita on this one.

“Eddie Hearn and Kell Brook can be apart of history as the oldest junior-middleweight champion will prove I’m not done and that I’ve learnt from my old mistakes,” concluded Bundrage.

‘K9’ scored two victories in 2017 on the back of losing his world title to Jermall Charlo in three rounds at Foxwoods Resort.

With Brook already rated highly in the IBF ratings, a fight against a Top 15 contender is not needed at the moment and Hearn may well decide to give Bundrage a call once he cranks up his search.
