Marsellos, 29, is pencilled in for his maiden bow on Friday night at Tuscaloosa Rivermarket in the Wilder brothers’ hometown and Deontay has already fired a warning to put the cruiserweight division on notice.
“Just when you thought things couldn’t get any Wilder! May 25th my brother Marsellos will have his pro debut in his home town of Tuscaloosa, Alabama at The River Market,” revealed ‘The Bronze Bomber’ over the weekend.
“Come support this young man as he starts his own journey of becoming a cruiserweight World Champion.
“P.S. He’s a Wilder so yes he’s blessed with that night night power as well,” he added.
Wilder himself has bulldozed his way through the top division, all the way to a reign as WBC title holder and on the verge of a massive undisputed clash unified king Anthony Joshua.
For 6ft 3ins Marsellos, the long journey begins against winless novice Jalyn Anthony at the start of what many believe will be a successful run to the top of the 200 pound tree.
“I didn’t want to just sit around and just work, I wanted to be an athlete,” Wilder told The Tuscaloosa News during preparations for Friday.
“I love what I do and I fell in love with it. Now I’m about to make something out of it.”
Trainer Jay Deas, who also coaches Deontay, added: “Pro debuts you never know but Marsellos, the thing that I was most impressed with in his last amateur fight he was so calm and relaxed.
“Usually, these young guys are just all over the place but Marsellos demonstrated a real calmness, he picked his shots, he made shots count. I hope to see a continuation of that.”
