World Boxing Council President Mauricio Sulaiman, remains confident that the highly anticipated rematch between Saul "Canelo" Alvarez and the WBC middleweight champion, the Kazakh Gennady Golovkin will happen this year, following up on the draw they thrillingly fought last September.

"Everything points to September. The public wants it and the time of Nevada's famous suspension will have passed... it can be in September and I hope so because it's the best fight right now," said Sulaiman.

However, Mauricio commented that after Golovkin's victory over the Armenian-American Vanes Martirosyan, he could only talk with him about the triumph and nothing else.

There was no conversation about the possible rematch with Canelo, with Sulaiman commenting: "Gennady and I only talked about what happened on May 5, which was an excellent victory for him.

"Gennady was delighted with the special belt he conquered. He loved it and did not take it off all night."
