Jordan Gill improved his career statistics last week to 20-0 with a comprehensive victory over Carl McDonald.
An eager student at Dave Coldwell's thriving Rotherham gym, Gill has excelled since moving there and his trainer is desperate for his man to be contesting titles by the end of the year.
Speaking from Dubai as he prepares Jamie McDonnell for his imminent showdown with Naoya Inoue, Coldwell had positive comments relating to Gill's performance.
"It's what I wanted for him," buzzed Coldwell. "The chance for him to get rounds under his belt on a big show and he got what was needed.
"He's out here with us in Dubai before we go onto Japan as he's been giving Jamie some excellent work in the gym, and he's benefitting from that himself as he's sparring with the highest class available to him.
"He's learning all the time, and he's applying what he's being taught in the ring.
Coldwell added, "The talent and skill has never ever been an issue for Jordan. It's the experience, and that's the big thing I'm working on for him so he's able to get on these big shows because there's no reason why he can't be at the top of the card on them one day.
"The win gives us another platform to push on with, and were definitely looking at adding some titles to Jordan's profile later this year.
"A fight for the Commonwealth belt in 2018 is what we want next, and if Jordan keeps learning as he moves up in class then I think you're looking at a very special fighter."
