The current four-belt ruler proudly displayed his clutch of straps when posing with his well-deserved haul as a clash with World Boxing Council ruler Wilder continues to draw near.
Negotiations hit an interesting high when Wilder offered Joshua $50m to take the fight late last month despite the fact the Briton has been ordered to face WBA and WBO mandatory Alexander Povetkin next.
Povetkin issued a statement declaring he had no intention of stepping aside, but with a potential nine figures to be made, a deal is said to be possible for the Russian to wait until 2019.
Joshua v Wilder could then take place at Wembley in the summer before a return heads to Las Vegas in December.
Whoever is successful from the high-profile PPV encounter would then become the first undisputed top division champion since Lennox Lewis held the four relevant versions in the late 1990’s.
A debate had rumbled since US analysts attempted to revoke Lewis as the last to fully unify the belts, although the general consensus is that the WBO were not as prominent as they are today and therefore didn’t hold any real weight in the grand scheme of things back then.
Fans worldwide remain optimistic Joshua v Wilder makes it over the line for 2018, and with posts like the one released this week, that hope could turn into much more than that in the very near future.
