The 37 year-old lost out via a late stoppage against Bellew in March 2017 after fighting five rounds with a snapped achilles, with many UK betting sites believing revenge is in the offing.
Haye gets another chance on May 5th at the same O2 Arena venue and has his eyes firmly fixed on levelling up the score with a possible third fight to come between the two.
Speaking on the fight in his column for metro.co.uk, Haye said: With less than three weeks to go until my rematch with Tony Bellew this really is the tough bit.
“May 5 will be the first time my trainer Ismael Salas will be heading my corner and in many ways the camp has had a technical focus more than being about emptying the tank every session — at least up until now, as it’s suddenly become pretty brutal.
“Salas has focused on the minute details I believe will make the difference in this fight. It’s about fine-tuning and he is the guy who can get the best out of me. But I will only know on fight night whether these changes will give me the marginal gains I need to beat Bellew and avenge his win last March.
“I am well aware there is a huge amount riding on the outcome. There is no room for error and as a team we are leaving no stone unturned.
“I firmly believe it will be a better Tony Bellew that steps in the ring on May 5. But it will also be a better version of the Hayemaker. Last time, all three judges had me losing the first round but winning two, three, four and five before I lost the sixth and the remainder until my corner threw the towel in.
“Bellew is about to step into the ring to face a boxer he has never faced before. It will be a shock for which he will need to prepare himself,” he added.
The Londoner’s calibre and previous experience alone is enough to give him the edge in the contest, although question marks over his full fitness will always remain.
Haye hasn’t been at firing on all cylinders since smashing Dereck Chisora at Upton Park back in 2012, but many see a victory on the cards for the ‘Hayemaker’ over predominant cruiserweight Bellew, provided he can get himself at least 90% capacity.
