The 32 year-old has only just won the Lonsdale belt but is already planning to make the move up to European level and beyond.

Johnson had been out of the ring since 2016 before his dominant performance against Buglioni at the O2 last month.

Discussing potential next moves, Johnson exclusively told World Boxing News: “Whatever Joe (Gallagher, trainer) and Eddie (Hearn, promoter) put in place for me but I’d love to fight for the European title if that’s possible.

“I don’t know what the situation is with that, whether or not it’s vacant or not (Dominic Boesel holds the belt).”

Whether or not his next fight is for the European title, Johnson wants to keep his momentum going and progress up the ranks as fast as he can.

“People have spoken about Karo Murat, that’s another fight I’d be up for because he’s a big name, but whoever really I just want to keep moving forwards and climbing up the ladder.”

The Boston man isn’t in the early stages of his career at 32 but has only had 17 professional fights.

“I’m not getting any younger, I’m 32 but I am fresh for 32 it’s not like I’ve had a lot of hard fights and were in an age where athletes are going on for longer than ever.

“I’m not an old 32 year-old, I’m fitter and stronger than I’ve ever been, but yeah my age does play a factor in wanting to progress quickly,” Johnson said when asked about his age.

Whatever move Johnson makes, he will have plenty of people paying attention on the back of his latest performance.
