Tyron Woodley on how Floyd Mayweather can be an unbeatable force in UFC

Mayweather is intent on earning further massive paychecks by crossing over codes at the age of 41 and plans to begin under the guidance of Woodley soon.

“I’m going to start (training) soon,” Mayweather said. “(I) have been texting (Woodley) back and forth. We talked a couple times so we’re going to start working out real soon,” Mayweather told TMZ Sports.

“I’ll probably need a little bit longer (than a few months to prepare),” he continued. “A little bit longer. Even if it takes six to eight months, whatever it takes, we just want to make sure everything is done correctly, and everything is done the right way.”

Woodley believes Mayweather can become an unbeatable force inside the octagon, even against seasoned grapplers, if he can learn how to completely eradicate his opponent’s ability to take him down.

“(If Mayweather can) eliminate all different martial arts, he forces an opponent to fight a stand-up fight with him, what fighter in the UFC is going to outbox Floyd?” explained Woodley.

“All I have to do is teach him how to negate the wrestling, teach him how to negate the striking.

“At the beginning of every round, how does the fight start? Standing up. I have to teach him how to keep it there,” he continued.

“I think three or four months training just to make people go out there and fight a stand-up fight, six to eight months if he wants to go out there and start throwing kicks and takedowns,” added Woodley.

Many see Mayweather as living in fantasy land if he thinks he can make an impression on the world stage in a sport that is miles away from boxing, whilst a one-off rematch clash with Conor McGregor wouldn’t be beyond the realms of reality for the ex-pound for pound king.
