Scores were 80-72 and 79-73, twice. With the victory Baumgardner earned the vacant WBC Junior Lightweight International Title.

“This was a great experience for me, I boxed smart and took things as they came, “said the 23-year-old Baumgardner. “She had a lot more fights than me so being in the ring with her was perfect for me in my fifth professional fight.” All four of Baumgardner’s previous four fights ended in first round knockouts.

Promoted by Evander Holyfield’s Real Deal Boxing, Baumgardner was recently recognized by Ring Magazine as the 2018 Female Prospect of the Year.

“That means everything to me, I’ve been training for a long time and it’s great to be recognized and shows how serious I am. I started boxing when I was eight years old with my Dad.”

Trained by the renowned Johnathon Banks, Baumgardner was a sparring partner of Women’s #1 Pound-for-Pound Fighter Cecilia Braekhus last fall in Norway. “Johnathon is a great trainer for me, he has truly instilled the ‘Kronk Gym’ style in me. I was in camp with Cecilia for three weeks and the high-level sparring was a terrific experience for me.

Said boxing legend Holyfield about Baumgardner’s performance, “This was a huge test for Alycia and she passed with flying colors. We’re very proud of her and look forward to seeing her back in the ring in the near future.”
