Frank Warren expects Caleb Truax v James DeGale rematch in USA

Truax ripped a lethargic DeGale’s championship from him in London, and it was first thought that there was no rematch clause in the contract.

Warren confirmed this wasn’t the case when commenting on the situation in a recent interview and believes an immediate return is likely to happen in the United States.

“We are working on the rematch at the moment. We are just trying to get it over the line,” Warren told The Independent.

“He’s got to give James the rematch, I believe it was in the contract.

“Will it be over here in the UK? Not on the money they currently want and if that doesn’t change the fight will be in the States,” he added.

DeGale was completely out of sorts when relinquishing his coveted red strap but has vowed to come back stronger from only his second loss.

Taking to social media lately, DeGale said the fight should go ahead ‘in the next couple of months’ when urged by a fan to change his bio to ‘ex-super-middleweight champion’.

For Truax, the win represented the culmination of a life’s work and staging a homecoming victory clash with DeGale seems possible for the American.

The Minnesota man was a massive underdog in the original contest, but ground out the win and will begin any rematch at much shorter odds.
