Exclusive: Tyson Fury offered WBA Int. title shot by ex-Deontay Wilder opponent Johann Duhaupas

Manager Mehdi Ameur has confirmed the Frenchman wants to face Fury in his comeback fight and is willing open talks immediately regarding a title clash.

Fury needs a ranking with a recognized governing body in order to challenge Anthony Joshua in the future, and defeating Duhaupas would shoot the 29 year-old back into the Top 15.

Ameur says Duhaupas would be highly confident of blocking that from happening if an agreement can be reached.

“Tyson Fury is looking for an opponent so why not Johann Duhaupas? The spectators could see England versus France – like a rugby match – and this fight will be the huge as it has the WBA International title on the line,” Ameur exclusively told World Boxing News.

“We have the TV coverage in France so we know this will be a big event,” he added.

On the fight itself and Duhaupas’ chances of causing an upset, Ameur stated: “Tyson doesn’t have the power to knock down Duhaupas. He may have the better skills but Johann can combat this with his power.

“If Johann doesn’t touch Tyson he may have a problem but I know at some point he will land on his chin.

“Johann is very mentally and physically ready for a big fight. Nothing would be left to chance against Tyson Fury.

“We want to be Fury’s next opponent as he looks to find his form again. The winner can then go on to face Anthony Joshua.

“If Fury says no, I will then be looking for another opponent for a défense of his title in France.

“I would even be ready to propose a rematch with Povetkin in France, but I hear maybe he will fight on the undercard of Joshua v Parker.

“Whatever happens, Johann is ready for Tyson Fury, Joshua or even Manuel Charr right now and wants to prove than he can become a world champion.”

Asked his opinion on the Joshua v Parker fight, taking place in Cardiff on March 31, Ameur was confident the Briton would overcome the New Zealander to unify four versions of the world championship.

“It’s a no-brainer that Joshua is going to win,” he predicted. “I think Joshua is too much strong for Parker and he will win by KO, for sure.

“Parker is young and hasn’t beaten anybody really. He won’t be able to touch AJ’s chin and he lacks power to detract Joshua from his own gameplan.

“We know this is heavyweight boxing and one shot can change all, like in the Wladimir Klitschko fight, but I believe Joshua is too strong for Parker,” said Ameur.
