Deontay Wilder’s ‘Half Hybrid’ post fail faces boxing fan blacklash

Posting on social media, Wilder described himself as ‘Half Human, Half Hybrid’ which was then comically jumped on by boxing fans.

By definition, a ‘Hybrid’ is a cross-breed of two different things, meaning it’s impossible to be ‘Half Human’ and ‘Half Hybrid’ as Wilder suggested.

The list of responses was a long one, with some more distasteful than others as Wilder continues preparations to face Luis Ortiz in the first quarter of 2018.

With a clash against Anthony Joshua in the balance, Wilder knows he can afford no slip-ups against Ortiz as a multi-million dollar check looms for a unification bout.

Joshua is finalizing a deal to potentially add the WBO strap to his IBO, IBF and WBA versions before going after Wilder’s green and gold strap in the summer.

As ‘AJ’ holds all the cards when it comes to pulling power, Wilder would almost certainly face a trip to the UK unless he agrees to take a lesser cut for a clash in Las Vegas.

Everything is pointing to a solid 2018 for the heavyweight division though as Joshua, Wilder and Parker all look forward to the chance of adding more titles to their haul.

Wilder may want to double-check his future social media posts though to make sure he’s 100% correct.
