Whilst some of those inside boxing are at a loss to explain why Joshua didn’t earn the 84,000 necessary to take the crown, a portion of fans believe recent social media problems contributed to people not wanting to pick up the phone or go online.
Joshua has a mass of social media followers in the millions but failed to even reach 75,000 votes and ended up in fourth position behind a Super Bike rider and a Paralympic athlete.
The loss won’t do Joshua’s reputation any favors and seems to be an indication that activity not previously addressed should now be acknowledged by ‘AJ’ and his team.

Earlier this year, Joshua sent a series of questionable Twitter, Instagram and SnapChat posts which promoter Eddie Hearn promised he’d clear up when returning from a Dubai holiday. Nothing was ever forthcoming or mentioned as the 28 year-old return to media duties to promote his next fight, potentially against Joseph Parker in the spring.
Rival Tyson Fury even asked whether a media blackout had been arranged as none of the main newspapers in the UK chose to cover any of the posts.
