Christian Hammer promoter disappointed, considering options after Tyson Fury loss is scrapped

Hammer meets Russian Alexander Povetkin (33 fights, 32 wins, 1 defeat) on December 15. The winner can hope for a title fight next year against the reigning world champion Joseph Parker or the British superstar Anthony Joshua.

Before the fight, there was now a positive message for promoter Erol Ceylan and his protégé.

The UK Anti-Doping Agency (Ukad) confirmed that the defeat against Tyson Fury was declared a no-contest.

The wording reads: “All titles, prize money and ranking points that [Fury] secured as a result of his victory in that fight are forfeited.”

For promoter Erol Ceylan the decision is long overdue.

“Of course it’s nice to be right in the end, but my joy is limited. We did not receive any information during the entire investigation. I am really disappointed with how we were handled by the officials, both BBBofC and UKAD.

“It remains a more than a bland aftertaste. After all, Fury continued to box after the fight as if nothing had happened,” says Ceylan, including against Klitschko, whom he was able to defeat, so the disappointment is understandable given the lucrative battles that awaited the promoter and his protégé.

“We will now review and evaluate the legal situation,” said Ceylan.

“Christian Hammer himself is currently focused only on the fight against Povetkin, but he is open to a rematch against Fury.

“Of course, a rematch would be a good thing, but at the moment only Povetkin counts. If I win the fight, I’ll fulfill my dream of a World title fight,” says Hammer.
