Wilder, Ortiz agree world title clash during in-ring confrontation

‘The Bronze Bomber’ sat ringside as Ortiz blasted out the underwhelming Daniel Martz before eyeballing the Cuban and eventually climbing into the ring to confront the world ranked contender.

As the pair went face-to-face, Wilder and Ortiz agreed the best thing for them to do was reschedule their ill-fated November 4 clash, which fell apart when ‘The Real King Kong’ tested positive for a questionable substance.

“I’ve wanted you and I’m going to bless you again with another opportunity,” said Wilder.

“I was ready the first time. This is a new day for you. I think you’re one of the best heavyweights in the world and I want to prove that I am the best.

“We must fight each other. You will have your fight.”

With both linked to fights against Anthony Joshua recently, Ortiz said the current situation regarding failed negotiations meant their contest could take place before a potential unification.

Ortiz stated: “Anthony Joshua doesn’t want to fight either of us, let’s give the world this fight.

“There will be no excuses. I will be ready to do this for Cuba!”

The WBC cleared Ortiz of any wrongdoing due to medication for high blood pressure but did fine him $25,000 before warning of his future conduct and stipulating stricter guidelines for testing.

As Ortiz was compliant, WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman reinstated him into the ratings, opening the door for a world title bout against Wilder in the first half of the New Year.
