Just hours after celebrating his 31st birthday in the jungle, Khan was voted out due to his part in what the UK media have called ‘a bullying row’ with fellow contestant Iain Lee.
From initially pulling out of his very first Bushtucker Trial – to winning the hearts of a nation with his child-like charm and incessant screaming at being in close proximity to snakes and spiders – Amir’s true personality had shone through early on and saw him initially move up to second favourite to win the show.
Fast forward just one week and Khan’s relationship – or lack of – with Radio and former TV presenter Iain Lee has been pounced on by the UK media and from then on his days were numbered.
During Khan’s last few days, Lee had become more and more vulnerable in front of cameras as ITV begin to pick small snippets of the 24 hours contestants go through in camp to portray for their nightly show.
In those short bursts, Khan has been a lot of the focus, alongside big pal and Hollyoaks actor Jamie Lomas and ex-footballer Dennis Wise – who was voted out just before him.
All three were collectively accused of bullying Lee over his trial failures in the past, a storyline which slowly dominated the show and saw the perceptions of the trio – but mainly Khan – go down considerably with the general public.
Young actress Georgia Toffolo is the hot favourite, whilst Lee is second and Coronation Street’s Jenny McAlpine is third in the betting.
Things began to go sour between the pair after they shared a prize of strawberries together which should have been handed out with their camp-mates.
Upon leaving the show, Khan wasn’t aware of any tabloid frenzy over his comments as he greeted his formerly estranged father Shah upon departure.
It was then revealed Khan had donated a portion of his record salary for appearing on the show to Barnardo’s children’s charity, something the boxer had initially kept to himself.
Khan is now hoping to be back in the ring by April after vowing to return to training following a well-deserved holiday.
