Long fight delay swings tide in favour of a ‘fully fit’ David Haye against Tony Bellew

Haye stated he’d suffered a bicep injury in the build-up to a December 17 clash and was granted a long reprieve from facing Bellew in a pre-Christmas Pay-Per-View battle.

Due to the delay and the fact Haye has even more time to recover his body from the rigours of the sport, the two-weight world champion has seen his chances of revenge improve significantly.

‘The Hayemaker’ remains strong with the bookmakers and may have everything but age in his favor once the pair finally share the ring again on May 5 of 2018.

Betway’s Alan Alger, said: “Despite his long-standing injury problems, we still have David Haye as favourite to beat Tony Bellew in their rematch which was announced for May 5th.

“A fully-fit Hayemaker is one of the most dangerous punchers in the world, and given he’s expected to make a full recovery from bicep surgery, he’ll enter as favourite at 2/5 for the postponed bout.

“However, as proved in the first fight, Bellew shouldn’t be written off. He can still be backed at 15/8 to inflict a second defeat upon Haye, a result which would all but end the former two-weight world champion’s boxing career.”

Boxing – Bellew vs Haye

Outright:
Haye 2/5
Draw 28/1
Bellew 15/8

Bellew is growing increasingly frustrated with Haye and will want to finally put an end to the sage which has run since late 2016.

Victory for the Liverpool man could set-up a mouth-watering affair with Tyson Fury should the former king be handed his license back by the British Boxing Board of Control.
